Punctum turns long videos into short clips. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, who helps us run the service and what you can ask us to do. Questions go to thierrychizaram@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your account basics: your email address, your username, and the name and profile picture you choose. When you sign in with Google, GitHub, Facebook or Apple, that service shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We never see the password for those accounts.
- Your password, if you make one: it is stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form by Supabase. Nobody at Punctum can read it.
- A profile photo, if you upload one. You can remove it at any time.
- The videos you send: links you paste, files you upload, and what we make from them: transcripts, clips, titles and scores.
- Your plan and usage: which plan you're on, how many minutes you've used this month and a list of your videos.
- Technical logs: like any website, our hosting providers keep short-lived logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the service running and secure.
We don't sell your data, show ads or use advertising trackers.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and keep your clips in your account
- To make your clips: download the video, write the transcript, pick the best moments, frame and caption them
- To count the minutes on your plan and stop abuse
- To answer you when you contact us
Under the EU's GDPR, we rely on providing the service you asked for, and on our legitimate interest in keeping it secure and fair.
Who helps us run Punctum
- Supabase: accounts and database (stored in the EU, Frankfurt)
- Google, GitHub, Facebook and Apple: sign-in, only the one you choose to use
- Vercel: hosts this website
- Cloudflare: stores uploads and finished clips
- RunPod: the GPU servers that make the clips
- Stripe: takes payments for paid plans and top-ups. They handle your card or PayPal details; we only see your email, your plan and whether you paid
- Anthropic (Claude): reads the transcript to choose the best moments and write titles. By default, Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train its models.
Some of these companies process data in the United States, under the safeguards EU law requires for transfers outside the EU.
How long we keep things
- Uploaded videos: deleted after about 3 days
- Finished clips: deleted after your plan's keep time (Free 3 days, Starter 7, Creator 14, Pro 30)
- Your account and video list: until you delete your account
Deleting your data
You can delete your account yourself at any time: sign in, open Settings (from your picture in the top bar), then Account, then Delete account. Your clips, uploads, profile photo, linked accounts and messages go with it. This also removes everything we received from Google, GitHub, Facebook or Apple when you signed in. You can also download a copy of your data first from the same page.
If you can't sign in, email thierrychizaram@gmail.com from your account's email address and we delete it within 30 days. After a deletion we keep only a scrambled, one-way form of your email address and the minutes you'd used that month, for 31 days, so deleting and signing up again can't reset free minutes.
Your rights
You can download your data yourself from Settings, and change your name, username, photo and password there. You can also ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email thierrychizaram@gmail.com and we'll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies and browser storage
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser keeps your sign-in session and your clip settings so you stay signed in and don't have to choose them again.
To know how many people visit, we count page views without cookies: which page, the site that linked to it, the country and whether it was a phone, tablet or computer. Each visitor is a code made from that day's date, so it changes every day and can't be traced back to you or your address. These counts are kept for about a year.
So nobody can invite themselves for free minutes, we keep a scrambled code of the internet connection and browser each account uses, for 60 days. The code can't be turned back into your address and is only compared with the account that invited you. For invited friends we also keep a one-way code of their email, so each person can only be invited once.
Children
Punctum is not for children under 16.
